Multiple-file upload settings
Use Multiple-file upload when one question needs several attachments. It is a separate component type, fileMultiple, whose answer is an object wrapping the file records: {"files":[...]}. Use attachments.files for an example field ID of attachments; the answer itself is not a bare array.
Settings reference
| Setting | Property / behaviour |
|---|---|
| Maximum number of files | maxFiles: whole-number string from 1 to 100; default 10. |
| Required and error messages | Use normal basic/conditional validation. Explain which documents are needed and any minimum evidence requirement. |
| Maximum file size | maxFileSize: per-file MB limit, greater than 0 and at most 20,000. Choose a lower practical limit matching downstream systems and account capacity. |
| Supported file types | fileTypes: extensions or MIME types, up to 200 entries. Empty/unset does not impose a custom type restriction. |
| Image processing | JPEG/PNG auto-resize is enabled unless disabled. Optional metadata stripping and face blurring use the same controls as a single File component. |
| Scanning and review links | Use the storage/scanning configuration and Check answers display controls described in File components. |
Compatibility and limits
Multiple-file upload requires the current v6 frontend (frontendVersion="v6" in service JSON). It cannot be placed in a Data Grid. Document disarming/reconstruction is available only on a single File component, and Bulk Data must use a single File component as its source.
Do not treat the answer as one filename or one file handle. Test adding/removing files, repeated names, one invalid file among valid files, exceeding the maximum, resuming a draft, review/downloads and each onward integration. The component's size limit does not enlarge provider attachment limits or account storage allowances.
