Carbon net zero by 2050

Govforms is committed to combating climate change through emissions reduction. The company's baseline carbon footprint from 23 May 2018 to 31 May 2022 totalled 1918 tCO2e.

Govforms anticipates carbon emissions will drop to 1438 tCO2e over the next five years, representing a reduction of 25%.

Three priority areas

1. Data centres

The largest carbon contributor in cloud software services comes from data centres. Govforms partners with major providers — AWS, Microsoft, and Google — to leverage their carbon-reduction strategies, and is developing a carbon consumption calculator for customer transparency.

2. Attachment processing

The second major energy consumer involves uploading and processing user attachments. The company aims to minimise these through improved digital design and policy simplification. Where attachments are necessary, Govforms calculates likely carbon generation to determine required offsets.

3. Supply chain & physical movement

Govforms models its internal processes to reduce carbon from video calls, collaboration software, testing, email communications, and employee travel, while encouraging ecosystem partners to do the same.

Future direction

The company seeks partnerships with voluntary sector organisations to enhance carbon modelling, benchmarking, and enable offset cost enablement for clients in project funding scenarios.
