Darcy AI form build

Darcy can turn a description, existing form or requirements pack into a draft digital service. It creates the service structure in the Builder so you can inspect, edit and test the result.

Choose your starting material

From the library's services workspace, select Create New Service, enter the service name and ID, and choose the description or documents route. You can also ask Darcy to create a service in a library you are authorised to use.

  • Describe the service: explain who will use it, what they need to achieve, the information to collect and what happens at the end.
  • Upload documents: provide one or more source files, such as a PDF form, Word requirements, an Excel question list or images, with notes about the intended journey.

The description and documents routes start a new draft with a saved design brief. Open the new service's designer to continue the build there. Blank services, templates and configurable starters remain useful alternatives when you already know the structure you want.

Write a useful brief

Include the questions, eligibility rules, conditional sections, calculations, evidence requirements and submission outcome. Identify wording that must be preserved and decisions that still need an answer.

Create an equipment request service for staff. Ask for their name, team, work email and equipment choice. Ask for a business reason when they choose a laptop. Show a check-your-answers page before submission and explain that the request will be reviewed by the equipment team. Do not invent an approval threshold.

For an existing document, explain whether Darcy should preserve its question order or reorganise it into a clearer online journey. Make skip instructions explicit, including which answers trigger them. If an integration is needed, identify the existing connection and required outcome rather than assuming a destination.

Build and refine

  1. Provide the brief and source documents.
  2. Answer Darcy's questions about missing requirements or creation choices.
  3. Allow the build, or approve its plan if you use Ask before changing.
  4. Read the progress and result messages. An initial build is followed by a quality review that may refine the structure and configuration.
  5. Inspect the pages, questions, conditions and actions in the new service.
  6. Ask for focused refinements, then test the complete journey.

Darcy AI form build is an extended creation task. Darcy AI assistance also covers smaller edits and explanations while you work on an existing service.

Check the draft against the source

  • Every required question and piece of supporting content is represented.
  • Conditional and mandatory questions behave correctly on every route.
  • Calculations, validation and eligibility rules match the supplied requirements.
  • Review and completion pages explain the actual submission outcome.
  • Notifications and integrations use the intended settings and work in the target environment.

Use User view for the journey and QA for real integrations. Treat AI-built content as a draft requiring your service owner's review. Creating or editing a draft does not publish it.

Turning a PDF into online questions and placing answers onto a PDF are different tasks. For document output, see AI auto-mapping and Templated PDF actions.
